The 2023-24 season was a success for Boston University defenseman Ryan Greene, though it would have been even better had BU reached the National Championship instead of just the Frozen Four. Nonetheless, fans can count on Greene being prepared for a standout junior year with the Terriers.
“I had a really good year,” Greene reflected on his sophomore season at BU. “We had a close-knit group, making it a lot of fun. Despite falling short, I’m proud of the improvements we made and the progress we achieved.”
Although Greene isn’t currently at the top of the list among Chicago Blackhawks prospects, his impressive college performance has garnered attention. With 12 goals and 24 assists (36 points) in 40 games, he played a crucial role in BU’s success.
With Lane Hutson leaving BU for the NHL, Greene must sustain his momentum into his junior year if he wants to secure an entry-level deal. His focus is now on leadership and enhancing his offensive game.
“Being an older player allows me to influence my teammates significantly, whether vocally or by example. I’ve learned a lot from past captains, and I’m excited to take on a leadership role and be a good role model for the younger guys,” Greene explained. “I improved my offensive game more than in my freshman year and was relied upon in various situations, which helped me grow.”
Ryan Greene is aiming for a spot with the Blackhawks. While there is stiff competition, Greene’s solid performance in college proves he can hold his own. If he dominates at Boston University this year, it will be hard for the Blackhawks to overlook him for an entry-level contract, similar to what happened with Frank Nazar. Building on his past success could make his case undeniable.
