Second-round rookie Tyler Kolek has been one of the standout performers for the Knicks this preseason. Despite a crowded backcourt, Kolek may secure a spot in head coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation sooner than expected.

In the first two preseason games, Kolek averaged 13 points, three assists, and showcased his shooting efficiency, hitting 60% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc. His defensive impact has been equally impressive, averaging two steals per game, which should ease concerns about his defense.

Although Kolek faces stiff competition from veteran Cameron Payne and last season’s standout Miles McBride, his early contributions could make him a key asset for the second unit as the regular season approaches.
