The New England Patriots previously explored options for Calvin Ridley in free agency and even put together a trade proposal for 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Now, it seems they’ve also done their homework on Dallas Cowboys star wideout CeeDee Lamb.

During an appearance on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on Monday morning, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo hinted at potential interest in Lamb, who is currently holding out of training camp due to dissatisfaction with his contract.

Did Jerod Mayo Just Hint Patriots Called Cowboys On CeeDee Lamb?

“You can’t talk about players on other teams, but you can put a call in,” Mayo remarked.

This statement came just a day after Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf suggested that the team remains open to exploring the receiver market.

“We make calls on all positions and players that we believe might help us,” Wolf said, according to a team transcript. “Sometimes, it’s just about gathering information from other clubs to understand their thoughts on their roster.”

As for CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys have reportedly offered him a deal worth $33 million in average annual value, according to NFL Media. However, Lamb is seeking more in both AAV and guaranteed money, making it uncertain whether the Patriots can strike a deal.
