After a career-best season with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024, Willy Adames is set to secure a big payday in free agency this offseason. The star shortstop is expected to attract significant interest once the MLB postseason ends. Ironically, one of the teams still competing for the World Series is seen as a leading contender to sign him, according to John Heyman of the New York Post.
Heyman reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are likely front-runners in the race for Adames, citing his past connection with team executives Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes from their time together at the Tampa Bay Rays. He also lists other potential suitors, including the Atlanta Braves. Although Adames may be beyond Atlanta’s budget, Heyman stresses that the Braves could greatly benefit from a player with his skills. Still, the Dodgers’ ability and willingness to outspend their rivals pose a significant challenge for Atlanta.
