The biggest question for the Los Angeles Dodgers heading into the postseason was the state of their pitching staff. Despite injuries sidelining key arms, the Dodgers’ depleted rotation has been outstanding, especially in the last three games. After a 9-0 win over the New York Mets in Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday, L.A. tied the all-time MLB record for consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason, with 33 straight innings without allowing a run, dating back to Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres.
The Dodgers shut out the Padres in the final two games of that series and added another shutout performance on Sunday. In doing so, they matched the Baltimore Orioles’ 1966 World Series record and set a new National League postseason record for consecutive scoreless innings.
Jack Flaherty pitched seven scoreless frames with six strikeouts, with Daniel Hudson and Ben Casparius closing out the game. L.A. will look to extend their dominant pitching streak in Game 2 against the Mets on Monday.
