Minnesota Vikings right guard Ed Ingram continues to struggle, prompting calls for the team to consider making a change.
The Athletic’s Alec Lewis highlighted the Vikings’ offensive woes in their Week 5 win over the New York Jets. Although they secured a 23-17 victory, the offense failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season.
To be fair, Minnesota has faced several elite pass rushers through the first five weeks, but Ingram’s issues in pass protection are not new. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Ingram has allowed 17 pressures this season—second-most among 66 guards who have played at least 150 snaps.
Lewis suggested that the Vikings consider replacing Ingram with veteran Dalton Risner, who is currently on injured reserve but may be ready after the bye week.
“Dalton Risner, who injured his back during training camp, traveled with the team to London but didn’t practice on Friday. The bye week could give him time to step in at right guard,” Lewis noted on October 8.
