Free agency officially begins five days after the World Series concludes, but several Pittsburgh Pirates players will be available on the market once it starts.
The number of players hitting free agency could have been higher if not for some roster moves made during the second half of the season.
Martín Pérez is currently in the postseason after being traded to the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline. Michael A. Taylor and Rowdy Tellez also got a head start on free agency after being released late in the season—Tellez’s situation was quite the ordeal! Nevertheless, six Pirates players will still be able to sign with any of the 30 teams in the league unless they reach agreements before free agency opens.
