San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel (19) took the field before the NFC divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers on January 20, 2024, in Santa Clara, California. The 49ers are set to have two key offensive players return for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Both wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle are expected to play after being left off the inactive list released on Sunday morning. Kittle, who missed the 49ers’ Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury, participated in practice for three consecutive days and will be back in action. Kittle has recorded 11 receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown in two games this season. Samuel, initially expected to miss a couple of weeks due to a calf strain suffered in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings, returned to practice on Thursday as a limited participant and is ahead of his recovery schedule.
Quarterback Brock Purdy dealt with back pain earlier in the week, but an MRI showed no significant injury, and he fully participated in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. However, running back Christian McCaffrey remains out with Achilles tendonitis.
