“Blockbuster 3-Team Trade Proposal Could Give Steph Curry the Perfect Sidekick!”
Even before the shocking departure of Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry’s longtime Splash Brother, the Golden State Warriors were on the lookout for a new No. 2 scoring option to reignite their championship hopes.
Could the answer be the New Orleans Pelicans’ disgruntled former All-Star forward, Brandon Ingram?
Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale recently proposed a blockbuster three-team trade that would see Golden State swap the underperforming Andrew Wiggins for Ingram.
Trade Details:
– Golden State Warriors Receive: Brandon Ingram ($36M), Jeremiah Robinson-Earl ($2.2M)
– New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Deandre Ayton ($34M), Moses Moody ($5.8M), Golden State’s 2025 first-round pick (top-eight protection)
-Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Andrew Wiggins ($26.3M), Gary Payton II ($9.1M)
Favale highlighted that the Warriors need a player who can be the “second-best offensive option on a strong team.” While the team hopes that young talents like Jonathan Kuminga or Brandin Podziemski might fill this role eventually, counting on them for next season is risky.
Ingram, despite being a gamble given his unresolved contract situation—he’s yet to receive a four-year, $208 million max extension offer from New Orleans—could be a “buy-low” trade candidate for the Warriors. Acquiring him would not require sacrificing key assets like Kuminga, Podziemski, or a future distant first-round pick.
“Golden State can capitalize on this divisive valuation. While Wiggins is more of a plug-and-play player, his contract is no longer a net positive. Ingram, on the other hand, has a higher ceiling as a shot-creator and playmaker,” Favale explained.
Even though Ingram had a slightly down year last season, averaging 20.8 points and 5.7 assists, he has been a reliable scorer since being traded to the Pelicans in 2019, averaging over 20 points per game for five straight seasons.
