Bryce Young was awful in Week 1, and it may be time for the Panthers to start panicking.

1. Fundamental Flaws: Young’s struggles seem to stem from fundamental issues. He’s hesitant to take contact, often avoiding stepping up in the pocket to add power to his throws. Additionally, he struggles to read blitzes, indicating a lack of growth in essential skills that should have been developed by now.

2. Lack of Improvement: Young’s performance in Week 1 was reminiscent of his rookie season, with persistent issues in accuracy, decision-making, and defensive recognition. Despite hopes that the offseason would bring progress, Young’s game still reflects the same weaknesses that plagued him last year.

3. Limited Support: Young’s struggles are exacerbated by a limited supporting cast. The offensive line is weak, often leaving him exposed to heavy hits. While additions like Diontae Johnson could help, other receivers like Adam Thielen are aging, and rookies like Xavier Legette and Jonathan Mingo are not yet reliable. This lack of support compounds Young’s difficulties, making it harder for him to succeed.
