Fantasy football enthusiasts gearing up for the 2024 season should keep an eye on Chicago Bears running back D’Andre Swift.
Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic highlighted Swift’s standout performance in training camp, especially his receiving skills, as evidenced by a 42-yard screen play in Buffalo. Fishbain noted that Swift is expected to be the Bears’ No. 1 running back, and with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s tendency to utilize his backs heavily, Swift’s role is promising.
However, Chicago’s offensive overhaul, which included drafting Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze and signing veterans like Keenan Allen and Gerald Everett, presents potential challenges for Swift’s fantasy value. With a rookie quarterback and a crowded roster of playmakers, including DJ Moore, Allen, Odunze, Cole Kmet, and fellow running backs Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert, Swift may face limited opportunities.
Fishbain pointed out that while Swift’s fantasy reliability might be in question due to the Bears’ depth at receiver and running back, this could make him a valuable mid-round sleeper. Although not a top-tier pick like Christian McCaffrey, Breece Hall, or Bijan Robinson, Swift could be a game-changing late-round selection.
Swift’s performance with the Eagles in 2023, where he rushed for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns and added 39 catches for 214 yards and a touchdown, suggests he could thrive in Chicago’s offense after an impressive showing in camp and preseason.
