The Arizona Cardinals are aiming to make a strong push for a playoff spot in 2024, with an upgraded offense and quarterback Kyler Murray fully back on the field after his 2022 ACL injury. Head coach Jonathan Gannon recently shared insights on Murray’s current mental and physical state as the new season approaches. “From a mental and physical standpoint, Kyler is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was last year,” Gannon told Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “His determination to win is unmatched. He’s not only embraced every challenge I’ve set for him but has gone above and beyond. He’s been an incredible leader both on and off the field.”
The Cardinals struggled early in 2023, going 1-8 without Murray, but they finished 3-5 once he returned, including a standout win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, with Gannon and Murray working together, they aim to build on last year’s progress.
With Murray playing a full season, the Cardinals’ offense shows significant promise. Marvin Harrison Jr., selected with the No. 4 pick, steps in as the team’s top wide receiver, filling the gap left by DeAndre Hopkins. Tight end Trey McBride is expected to be a key contributor, and in the backfield, Murray’s mobility, combined with running backs James Conner and rookie Trey Benson, offers a versatile attack.
While a Super Bowl run might be a stretch, the Cardinals have a realistic shot at the playoffs this year.
