In a game where the Jets relied on their two young quarterbacks but struggled with the passing game, they turned to their promising running backs to secure a 15-12 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Robert Saleh praised the running backs for their aggressive and effective play, noting their hard, downhill running despite the absence of Breece Hall.

The Jets’ running game totaled 117 yards on 28 carries, averaging a modest 4.2 yards per carry, and managed to gain seven first downs. Israel Abanikanda had the longest run of the night with a 12-yard gain. Although the running game was solid but not spectacular, it was crucial in the win, with the offense supported by five field goals, including four from Austin Seibert.

Despite some tough moments, the backs avoided losses and outperformed the passing game, which managed only 85 net yards. Braelon Allen, a fourth-round rookie, contributed significantly in a key drive, moving the pile effectively and helping the Jets tie the game with a field goal before halftime.

Allen’s 37 yards on a drive that took almost nine minutes set up a crucial field goal, and Abanikanda’s impactful runs in the third quarter helped secure the lead. Aaron Rodgers, watching from the sideline, expressed his confidence in the Jets’ running backs and their potential to be a significant force in the upcoming season.
