Dan Le Batard recently discussed a speculative scenario that could lead to Anthony Edwards joining the Miami Heat. He hinted at some “explosive” developments, noting that Glen Taylor, current owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, might lose control of the team to Alex Rodriguez due to an upcoming arbitration. If Taylor retains ownership, it could result in the departure of team president Tim Connelly, who reportedly signed on with the expectation of Rodriguez becoming the owner. Le Batard suggests that if Connelly leaves, Edwards might follow by requesting a trade to Miami.
Edwards, who signed a five-year, $244 million extension in July 2023, is considered one of the top players in the NBA. Last season, he averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. Selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, Edwards has career averages of 22.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. The Timberwolves reached the Western Conference Finals in 2024 but were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in five games. Meanwhile, the Heat exited the playoffs in the first round, losing to the Boston Celtics.
