Former Mississippi center Jamarion Sharp has signed a one-year contract with the Mavericks, according to his agent Scott Nichols of Rize Management, as reported by Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report.
At 7-foot-5, Sharp is the tallest player in college basketball. He played as a part-time starter for the Rebels last season, recording averages of 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in 31 games, while spending 15.8 minutes on the court per game. Before Mississippi, Sharp spent two seasons at Western Kentucky, where he was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2023, blocking an impressive 4.4 shots per game. At 22, he also had a stint with the Mavericks during the Las Vegas Summer League, where he averaged 2.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks over five games.
With the Mavericks already holding 13 fully guaranteed contracts and the anticipated addition of Spencer Dinwiddie, Sharp faces an uphill battle to secure a roster spot during training camp. However, if his contract includes Exhibit 10 language, he could earn up to a $75K bonus by staying with Dallas’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days.
