According to Jeff Passan, the Mets have acquired right-handed pitcher Paul Blackburn from the Athletics. The 30-year-old Blackburn has pitched 51 innings across nine starts this season, holding a 4.41 ERA and a 4.59 FIP.
Blackburn, whose tenure with the A’s has been notably long due to their frequent player moves, made his MLB debut with Oakland in 2017 and has appeared for them every season since. Over his career, he has accumulated 404 innings with a 4.83 ERA, 4.36 FIP, a modest 18.2% strikeout rate, and a solid 6.7% walk rate.
While the details of what the Mets are sending in return are not yet known, Blackburn is expected to slot in as a back-of-the-rotation starter, likely replacing Tylor Megill.
