The New England Patriots, who tied for the second-worst record in the NFL last season at 4-13, are seeking significant improvements heading into the 2024 season. With a new head coach and a revamped quarterback room, the team is eager for fresh talent.
As training camp begins, teams are searching for new players to complete their rosters. The Patriots have bolstered their defensive line by signing defensive tackle Josiah Bronson, as announced on their official X account. Bronson played for the Memphis Showboats in the UFL last season, recording 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks in ten games.
Initially entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2021 with the New Orleans Saints, Bronson has also been with the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins, seeing action on the 53-man rosters for the Saints, Browns, and Dolphins.
At 27 years old and standing 6’3″ and 310 pounds, the former University of Washington standout faces a challenging path to make the Patriots’ roster. The current depth chart at defensive tackle includes Davon Godchaux and Christian Barmore, with Daniel Ekuale, Trysten Hill, Jeremiah Pharms, and Sam Roberts returning from last year. Additionally, Armon Watts was signed in free agency, increasing the competition for Bronson.
