The Green Bay Packers are exceptionally fortunate at the quarterback position. No other NFL team can boast a succession from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Love acknowledges the storied history of quarterbacks in Green Bay, but he isn’t fazed by the pressure. Just a day after securing a massive four-year, $220 million extension, Love addressed the media about his new contract and the demands of being an NFL quarterback.
“There’s always pressure, whether you’re a first-round pick or becoming the starter,” Love said Saturday following his first practice of Packers training camp. “It’s part of the job we sign up for. You have to find ways to manage that pressure and perform at your best every day.” Love continued, “Pressure is constant. There’s no avoiding it… I’ve faced significant pressure situations before, and it’s about navigating through it as best as you can.”
Although Love is accustomed to pressure, this situation is unprecedented for him. With his extension, Jordan Love now ranks among the top NFL earners, tied with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow at an average of $55 million per year.
The Packers, as a team, will face heightened expectations in 2024.
This isn’t to say Love is unprepared for the challenge; rather, he’s never encountered this level of expectation. It will be intriguing to see how he and the Packers meet these new expectations in 2024.
Packers QB Jordan Love’s Breakout is ‘Real,’ Says AFC Executive
Jordan Love is garnering praise from across the NFL. He was an honorable mention in ESPN’s recent top 10 QB rankings for 2024. Although he didn’t crack the top 10, the article highlighted that Love has captured the league’s attention.
An AFC executive praised Love’s 2023 breakout, calling it “real.”
“I think that’s real,” said the AFC exec when asked if Love will sustain his performance. “He has arm talent, confidence, and a good system around him. He’ll turn the ball over occasionally because of his confidence. He might miss some plays, but that’s acceptable. It’s a short sample size, so he needs to prove it again. But I believe he will.”
Jordan Love made a name for himself with a strong finish to the 2023 season. Between Weeks 11-18, he recorded 2,150 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and one interception. He also played a crucial role in the team’s playoff victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
We’re eager to see if Love can sustain that level of production over a 17-game regular season. If he can, the Packers are likely headed for a playoff spot in the NFC.
