The Green Bay Packers have seen several former players transition into successful media careers. Among the most notable is James Jones, who regularly appears on the NFL Network and Fox Sports One. John Kuhn and Leroy Butler have also become prominent figures in Packers media recently. However, this year, a new addition to the media scene is someone who spent nearly his entire career with Green Bay.
The Green Bay Packers Will See Former Legend in the Booth This Year
According to Katie Callahan of ESPN Press Room:
Former NFL Pro Bowler Randall Cobb is set to join the SEC Network as a college football studio analyst. Cobb, who played 13 seasons in the NFL, including 10 with the Green Bay Packers, will appear on select editions of SEC Now throughout the fall. He will also co-host “Out of Pocket Presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors” with Alyssa Lang, blending football insights and entertainment each week.
“We are thrilled to welcome Randall to the SEC Network crew,” said Pete Watters, SEC Network Coordinating Producer II. “His experience and knowledge of the game, from both his time at Kentucky and in the NFL, will be a tremendous asset to our football coverage.”
Cobb, a UK Athletics Hall of Famer, is well-acquainted with the tradition and passion of SEC football. During his time at Kentucky, he earned First Team All-America honors and two All-SEC First Team selections.
“I am incredibly excited to be coming home to the SEC with this new role,” said Cobb. “The level of greatness this conference provides year after year is unmatched – I cannot wait to return to the conference family with this SEC Network crew.”
Selected by the Packers in the 2011 NFL Draft after his junior season at Kentucky, Cobb recorded nearly 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns during his three-year college career. In his 13 NFL seasons, he amassed over 7,600 yards and 54 touchdowns, including a career-high 1,287 yards in 2014, which earned him a Pro Bowl spot. Cobb, a native of Maryville, Tenn., was inducted into the Kentucky Pro Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.
Seeing Cobb behind the booth this year will certainly be exciting. Throughout his NFL career, he accumulated 7,624 receiving yards and 54 touchdown receptions. Cobb was an outstanding player and may one day be inducted into the Packers Ring of Honor.
