Patriots linebacker Matt Judon is disputing a report claiming he will refuse to play if the Patriots don’t offer him a new contract.

Patriots Insider Issues Crucial Update on Matthew Judon's Contract

“Before y’all start accusing me, I didn’t say that at all. Don’t let them make me the villain,” Judon posted on social media.

According to Boston.com, Judon was responding to a report from veteran Patriots reporter Greg Bedard, who mentioned on his podcast that Judon “is not going to play under his current contract.”

Although Judon skipped most of the Patriots’ voluntary offseason activities, he attended the mandatory minicamp and has expressed his commitment to the team, even if he is unhappy with his current contract.

“I’m just going to get ready to play,” Judon stated last month.

Patriots veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 23, and Judon’s public statements suggest he plans to attend. However, whether he will practice without a new contract remains uncertain. Judon has a $6.5 million base salary for 2024 and would become a free agent in March 2025 if he plays out his current deal.
