How He Got Here

Tyler Guyton, a Texas native, is headed to Dallas after stints at TCU and Oklahoma. He returns to his home state in 2024 with a wealth of experience, having played 29 collegiate games. Guyton is versatile, able to play both right and left tackle, with the Cowboys particularly eyeing him for the latter.

In 2023, the 6-foot-8, 322-pound lineman earned an honorable All-Big 12 mention, allowing zero sacks in 355 pass-blocking snaps. This is crucial given the void left by future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith on Dak Prescott’s blindside. The previous year, Guyton allowed only two sacks on 400 snaps, further highlighting his quarterback protection skills.

What’s Next

Guyton is set to move back to left tackle, where he’s seen as the future for the Cowboys. He’s been working hard both inside and outside the Cowboys’ facility to be ready as the starting blindside protector by Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns. His exceptional frame and athletic ability make him one of the most athletic offensive linemen in his class. In run blocking, Guyton excels at creating impressive run lanes. He’ll be tested by the likes of Micah Parsons, Sam Williams, and occasionally DeMarcus Lawrence.

Did You Know

Despite being a full-time basketball player until his senior year of high school, Guyton transitioned to football and made it to the NFL as a first-round pick.

Quotable“[It’s] my heart and my mind. I really love football, deep down to the core. I have a mentality of trying to dominate, and that’s what I’m bringing to Dallas.” – Tyler Guyton
