**Phillies Rumors: Unexpected Phillies trade deadline candidate appears in Chicago**

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com recently suggested that, along with Robert and Pham, Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs would be an ideal solution to the Phillies’ outfield needs. With the Cubs currently at the bottom of the NL Central and trailing six teams for the final Wild Card spot, they are expected to be active sellers at the trade deadline. This situation makes Happ a potential trade candidate who could be a great addition to Philadelphia. Throughout his career, the former All-Star has proven effective on both offense and defense. Happ’s versatility would perfectly align with what the Phillies need in their everyday lineup. He is a two-time Gold Glove winner and a consistent offensive contributor, averaging close to 77 runs scored, 24 home runs, and 77 RBIs per season over a 162-game span.

This season, while Happ has had some struggles at the plate, he has shown improvement, currently holding a .242 average with a .806 OPS. His consistent production is evident with 47 runs scored, 20 doubles, 13 home runs, and 52 RBIs in 83 games, projecting to 80+ runs, 30+ doubles, 20+ home runs, and 80+ RBIs over a full season. Additionally, he has been flawless in the outfield over 74 starts, recording five outfield assists and 3 DRS.

At 29 years old, Happ is still in his prime, and the Phillies should capitalize on this by adding him to their roster. If acquiring him requires sacrificing a prospect or two, it would be worth it. Unlike pursuing someone like Robert or Pham, who might not offer the same level of offensive and defensive capability, Happ wouldn’t require the Phillies to deplete their farm system. Philadelphia needs to make a move to strengthen their roster for the stretch run, and acquiring Ian Happ is a crucial step in that direction.
