The Dallas Cowboys are wrapping up the last few weeks of the offseason’s “dead period” before heading to Oxnard, California, for training camp.
During this wait, boredom seems to have set in, leading to some wild rumors. A recent rumor claimed Dak Prescott is “not 100 percent” and had an MRI, but this latest one takes the cake. According to FOX Sports 1 host Craig Carton, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones might sell the team to a group of Saudi Arabian investors. Carton suggests Jones is seeking hedge funds from Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi to secure the largest check ever for a North American sports franchise owner. However, there’s no evidence supporting Carton’s claim.
Carton, like other FOX Sports 1 personalities, is known for making outrageous statements. The idea that Jerry Jones, who loves being in control and has placed his family in key roles, would sell the Cowboys is hard to believe. Carton’s speculation only highlights the impatience for training camp to start. Discussions about contract extensions are far more appealing than unfounded rumors of the Cowboys being sold to Saudi investors.
The Cowboys will head to the West Coast on Tuesday, July 23, with the opening press conference the next day and the first training camp practice on Thursday, July 25.
